Before you apply

Do not rely on “USMLE, GMC & IMED recognised country” copy. IMED was folded into WDOMS. GMC and ECFMG assess the school and the graduate, not the Kazakh flag. Winters in Astana are harsh. Clinical years need Russian or Kazakh on the wards.

Yes. Indian and OCI students who want to practise in India must qualify NEET-UG. NMC does not waive NEET because the university is in Kazakhstan.

General Medicine is typically five years of study plus a one-year internship, advertised as a six-year pathway. For NMC FMGL 2021 you need at least 54 months of the degree and 12 months of internship at the same institution — confirm both in the contract.
International faculties offer English-medium tracks. Kazakh and Russian are used in hospitals. Get a written statement that the programme’s medium of instruction is English.

Almaty has the older medical schools (including Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University) and more Indian grocery options. Astana is newer, colder in winter, and administrative. Choose by university, not by skyline.
